PORT EVERGLADES SAND BYPASS PROJECT
BROWARD COUNTY | FLORIDA
8-12 TON ARMOR STONE BOULDERS
2-4 TON ARMOR STONE BOULDERS
Port Everglades Sand Bypass
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
This is big.
12-ton boulder big.
And it’s just the beginning.
The Port Everglades Inlet Sand Bypass Jetty Improvements project is one of Broward County’s largest long-term coastal resilience initiatives. The goal: restore the natural flow of sand interrupted by the inlet and protect miles of shoreline south of the port. For decades, the inlet has trapped an estimated 60,000 cubic yards of sand each year. Trapped sand = accelerated erosion.
Working alongside project partners Continental Heavy Civil, Milestone is sourcing and moving massive armor stone for the north jetty improvements portion of the project. The stone is being sourced from Georgia, loaded by rail, transported hundreds of miles, and delivered into Port Everglades for installation.

The Bigger Picture
Strong coastlines require more than sand.
They require the right materials in the right place, backed by execution that can operate at a regional scale.
From the quarry face in Georgia to the shoreline in Florida, Milestone is helping move the materials that make long-term coastal protection possible.
Go big, or go home.
