HUGH K. LEATHERMAN TERMINAL WHARF EXTENSION
PORT OF CHARLESTON | SOUTH CAROLINA
ARMOR STONE: 86,100 TONS
Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal Wharf Extension
Charleston, South Carolina
Strength built from the shoreline up.
The expansion of the Hugh K. Leatherman Terminal at the Port of Charleston marked a major step forward in supporting larger vessels and increased global trade. Led by the South Carolina State Ports Authority (SCPA), this $88 million project was awarded to Orion Marine Group, a strong partner of Milestone.
Milestone supported this critical marine infrastructure project with:
86,100 tons of armor stone
Placed along the shoreline, this armor stone plays a key role in stabilizing the wharf extension—helping protect against erosion, wave action, and the demands of a high-capacity port environment.
Material that protects critical infrastructure.
And reinforces what’s built to perform at scale.

The Bigger Picture
Port infrastructure depends on what holds it in place.
This expansion contributes to the Leatherman Terminal’s growth—from 700,000 TEU capacity toward a projected 2.4 million TEUs—supporting the movement of goods at a global scale.
Every ton placed strengthens the system behind it.
Creating resilience where it matters most.
