A Cause Built Through Relationships
In 2011, Milestone Supply founder and CEO Chris Whitney and three close friends were inspired to support their friend Will Wellman after he was diagnosed with Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis, or FSGS, a rare and debilitating kidney disease.
These four didn’t have the medical answer. But they knew their friend needed support, and they sure knew how to bring people together. The journey began with two benefits walks, raising funds for the cause. But together, they knew they could do more.
Enter: Tampa Pig Jig!
Each Fall, the Tampa Pig Jig brings live music, food and drinks, and a corporate barbecue competition to downtown Tampa’s waterfront. “From a Backyard Barbecue to a beacon of hope”, Pig Jig raises funds for NephCure, the only nonprofit organization committed to supporting research, improving treatment, and finding a cure for the debilitating kidney disease, Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and Nephrotic Syndrome.
One friendship sparked the effort.
Four friends fired it up.
The Tampa community kept it growing.

Support Builds Momentum
Tampa Pig Jig did not reach its fifteenth year because of one person, company, or contribution.
It grew because relationships continued bringing more people into the work.
Together, that network has helped the event raise more than $15 million and support NephCure’s work for families affected by rare kidney disease.
But its significance is not measured by one number alone.
It is also measured by the awareness created, the people connected to the cause, and the community that continues showing up.
The same relationships that connect material, freight, technology, and expertise can connect people around a community need. The same teams that work together to deliver a difficult job can work together to make a meaningful difference.
